DAIKIN VRV air conditioning system instruction manual - Manuals+ (6)DANGER

  • The refrigerant gas is heavier than air and replaces oxygen. A massive leak will cause oxygen starvation, especially in basements, and a suffocation hazard will result in serious injury or death.
  • Do not ground the devices to water pipes, gas pipes, telephone wires, or lightning rods as incomplete grounding creates a serious risk of electrical shock which can result in serious injury or death. Also, grounding gas lines will result in gas leaks and possible explosion, which can result in serious injury or death.
  • If a refrigerant gas leak occurs during installation, ventilate the area immediately. The refrigerant gas will generate toxic gases if it comes into contact with fire. Contact with this gas will result in serious injury or death.
  • After completing the installation work, check that no refrigerant gas is leaking through the system.
  • Do not install the device in an area where combustible materials exist, as there is a risk of explosion which could result in serious injury or death.
  • Dispose of all packaging and shipping materials safely in accordance with federal/state/local laws or ordinances. Packing materials such as nails and other metal or wooden parts, including plastic packing materials, used for shipping can cause injury or death by suffocation.

TO USE

  • If the number of indoor units to be connected is less than the number of sub-ports (there are empty sub-ports or you plan to increase the number in the future), any of the sub-ports may be left unused. Be sure to follow the correct procedure for closing unused ports.
  • If you plan to add new indoor units in the future, please select a pipe size based on the total capacity of the indoor unit before adding new units. Do not choose a pipe size based on future total capacity. This leads to abnormal operation. If the pipe size does not change before and after the lengthening, then the lengthening is acceptable.
  • For more information on expansion, please contact your Daikin sales representative.
5-2 Precautions for Piping Work

Connect the hoses.

  • Braze (*2) the refrigerant pipes after nitrogen replacement (replace the air with nitrogen while replacing the nitro
flow into the refrigerant line (*1)). (See Fig. 2.) (*1) The pressure regulator for the nitrogen evolved during welding should be set at about 0.02 MPa (2.9 psi) (enough to feel a gentle breeze on your cheek).
(*2) Do not use flux when brazing the refrigerant pipe.
Use phosphorous copper (B-Cu93P-710/795: ISO 3677) for the brazing alloy, which does not require flux. (The use of chlorine flux may cause pipe corrosion, and if it contains fluorine, it may cause the coolant lubricant to deteriorate, which would adversely affect the coolant piping system.)
